Olympic gold medallist joins on a multi-year deal.

TATA AIA Life Insurance announced on Wednesday that Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has joined as a brand ambassador on a multi-year deal.

As part of the deal, Chopra will be promoting health and wellness amongst TATA AIA’s policyholders. Given the current pandemic situation, TATA will hope to count on Chopra’s recent recognition to educate the public about the importance of life and health insurances.

Chopra’s deal with TATA is also the javelin thrower’s very first sponsorship deal since his Olympic win.

TATA’s Executive Vice President and Chief Distribution, Officer Venky Iyer, spoke about the plans ahead with Chopra:

As a VSM awardee in the Army and a National Icon today, Neeraj symbolises incredible passion for excellence and a great commitment to serving the nation. For us at Tata AIA, his sports journey echoes greatly with our vision of enabling dreams and inspiring healthier and happier lives. And quite like we observe in Neeraj’s journey, Passion for Excellence, and an Obsession to do the best for our consumers, the people of India, are among the core values at Tata AIA. We are delighted to partner with Neeraj and welcome him warmly into the Tata AIA family.

Chopra himself spoke about how the current pandemic has made people realise the need to health and wellness, stating:

Joining the Tata AIA family was a logical step for me. I firmly believe that there is a need to educate Indians, especially the youth, about the need for life insurance and to help them plan for their financial goals, at the right time. Further, the pandemic has made us realize the key need to pursue physical and emotional wellbeing in our day-to-day life. Tata AIA’s protection and health & wellness solutions offer distinct and significant benefits to consumers. I am happy be a part of the brand’s vision and look forward exciting times ahead.

Chopra was recently also seen in public awareness campaigns by the Reserve Bank of India to warn people against digital banking frauds.

Following his historic Olympic achievement, Chopra has been the darling of many brands and along with multiple brands wanting to sign on the gold medallist, Chopra was also rewarded by various brands and governments following his victory. Brands such as Mahindra, GoFirst Airways, IndiGo, and BYUJUS were just a few who awarded Chopra.

The BCCI, the Chennai Super Kings, and the Punjab government have also announced prizes for Chopra and the other medallist Olympians.
