The sports division of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), CBC Sports, has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022.
The broadcast rights will see CBC Sports provide ten hours of live-action and also six daily streams of the event, which will be available on its digital and mobile platforms. CBC Sports’ social media channels will also be providing live updates of the event.
Chris Wilson, Executive Director of Sports and Olympics, CBC, commented:
“Building on the momentum of Canada’s stellar performance at Tokyo 2020, we’re excited to bring audiences across the country the top moments from Team Canada at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Canadians will have the opportunity to cheer for the country’s best athletes and teams across our platforms, and follow all of the action.“
Scott Stevenson, Team Canada 2022’s Executive Director, stated:
“We are thrilled that for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, thanks to CBC Sports, fans and supporters of Canada’s best high-performance athletes, will have extensive opportunities to watch and cheer Team Canada 2022 on as they go for gold.“
The CBC previously broadcast the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in 2018. Recently, it also extended its partnership with the Olympic Games, which will see the Canadian broadcasting network cover the 2026, 2028, 2030 and 2032 games.
The 2022 CWG will get underway from July 28 and last till August 8.
