Alpine announces extension to celebrate Pride Month

French Formula One team Alpine has extended their partnership with Racing Pride, to kick off Pride Month. Racing Pride, is an initiative to promote inclusion throughout motorsport to promote key messages and several initiatives to further raise awareness and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

The partnership extension will see Alpine run the Progress Pride Flag on their race car, the A523 during all of the Formula One races in June, which started with the Spanish Grand Prix and will continue at the Canadian and Austrian Grand Prix. Alpine’s partner Castrol will also support the cause and run a Castrol Pride logo on Alpine’s race car.

Otmar Szafnauer, Team Principal, BWT Alpine F1 Team, commented,

“We have had positive feedback from colleagues within the team following actions and workshops done with Racing Pride and the Diversity and Inclusion group in 2022 and 2023.This is incredibly rewarding. It shows that the work done to increase awareness and inclusivity is making strides. We must however absolutely continue this good work to make the LGBTQ+ community 100% accepted and valued.”

Kerrie Sparling, Power Platform Development Manager at BWT Alpine F1 Team, and Racing Pride Ambassador, said,

“Continuing the Racing Pride partnership gives us a great opportunity to build on the foundations that have been put in place over the past year to support LGBTQ+ inclusion at BWT Alpine F1 Team. There is still a lot to do, but we’re making real progress. The support across the team has been overwhelmingly positive, and Pride Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work that is going on at Enstone and Viry to make our Team a more inclusive environment for everyone.”

Sarah Moore, Racing Pride Director, stated,

“We are so pleased to be building on the work we started with the BWT Alpine F1 Team last year. It is fantastic that the team’s support for the LGBTQ+ community will be highly visible across Pride Month with the Progress Pride Flag featuring on the Alpine A523 cars in Spain, Canada, and Austria. We are also excited to be able to offer the opportunity for members of our community to visit the team at Enstone. Crucially, we look forward to continuing to work in close dialogue with the team, through our series of workshops and internal conversations, to empower and support LGBTQ+ team members, to foster allyship, and to create a more inclusive sport and industry.”
