This final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be contested between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, pitting last term’s UEFA Conference League victors against the UEFA Champions League winners on July 14 at the MetLife Stadium, New York.

Here’s our preview and prediction for the final match between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Final: Chelsea vs Paris Saint-Germain | 00:30 IST, July 14

Luis Enrique’s side will enter as firm favourites following their one-sided demolition of fellow European heavyweights Real Madrid, while Enzo Maresca’s men saw off Fluminense with relative comfort.

However, form can go out the window on the biggest stage of all, and both teams will be drawing deep on their recent cup final experiences in what promises to be the toughest game yet, as they face off for the ultimate prize in club football.

Chelsea are in the Club World Cup final for the third time. Their first appearance ended in defeat to Corinthians in 2012, while they lifted the trophy in their second appearance nine years later. They were the last European team to lose a Club World Cup final — and will be looking to avoid becoming the first club to lose two.

The Blues finished second in their group after winning two of their three games, losing to Flamengo. That said, Chelsea ended up on the better side of the draw, and Maresca’s side had to beat Benfica, Palmeiras, and Fluminense on their way to Sunday’s showpiece. Still, they enter the final as massive underdogs.

Chelsea certainly have the individual quality and squad depth to cause PSG major problems, but they can’t afford to approach the final with an inferiority complex if they’re to triumph.

Having just been crowned European champions — and having conceded just once in this tournament so far (barring a slip-up against Botafogo in their second group game) — Luis Enrique’s side have been close to flawless.

They finished top of the three-way head-to-head group involving Botafogo and Atletico Madrid. PSG then knocked Inter Miami out in the last 16, before dispatching two European giants: Bayern Munich fell 2-0 in the quarterfinals, and Real Madrid were thrashed 4-0 in the semis.

PSG have won all three domestic trophies available to them this season, as well as the Champions League. That victory over Inter Milan also earned them a spot in the revived Intercontinental Cup later this year. With just one game between them and the CWC crown, a fifth title in the 2024–25 campaign is well within reach for this juggernaut of a team.

Team News:
Liam Delap and Levi Colwill are both available for Chelsea after suspension, but Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Pedro will be fighting to retain their spots in the starting XI. Chelsea will also hope to have Romeo Lavia back from injury.

For PSG, Lucas Hernandez and Willian Pacho remain unavailable, both serving two-match bans following red cards in the quarterfinal win over Bayern Munich.

Prediction:
Despite Chelsea’s young, exciting squad and depth in reserve, this Paris Saint-Germain side is simply a level above — and arguably above everyone else at the moment. Unless a red card or two changes the entire complexion of the game, we can’t envisage anyone other than Paris Saint-Germain lifting this year’s FIFA Club World Cup trophy.

Score Prediction: Chelsea 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain
