Fantasy football platform Sorare has inked a non-fungible tokens (NFTs) partnership with LaLiga on Thursday.
As part of the deal, Sorare will be launching a wide variety of NFTs for LaLiga players, which is also in line with the league looking to find another revenue stream through a new license category.
LaLiga’s fans along with NFT collectors and fantasy football players will be able to free trade and play using digital cards of the league’s players. LaLiga also announced that the revenue received from the sale of the NFTs from Sorare’s platform will be distributed amongst the league’s clubs.
Sorare’s cards, which are NFTs, are unique and the ownership of them are publicly verifiable via the blockchain. Sorare combines the NFT technology with sports cards and fantasy football to create a unique experience for its customers. Through collecting, owning and trading of limited-edition digital collectibles, Sorare has developed a unique experience where the players can own their game, develop real-world connections and protect and control their assets in a secure space.
Speaking about the historic deal, LaLiga President Javier Tebas said:

Sorare’s CEO and co-founder Nicolas Julia added:

Sorare, who already has deals with Atlético Madrid, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Sociedad, FC Sevilla, Valencia FC and Villarreal CF, is looking to build its football portfolio by tying up with all the major football leagues in the world.
Having signed up with LaLiga, Sorare has also been linked with the German Football Federation and the French Football Federation and is looking to tie up with the world’s top 20 football leagues by the end of next year.
