Nike terminates Spartak Moscow partnership

Nike has ended its sponsorship deal with Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow. The decision comes following the club’s exclusion from European competitions next season after UEFA announced that Russian teams won’t be allowed to participate in major UEFA tournaments for the upcoming 2022-23 season due to the country’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Nike, which served as Spartak Moscow’s shirt supplier since 2005, will no longer continue its role with the club. The Russian club have announced that they have started looking for new partners.

Spartak Moscow released a statement, which read:

Nike has notified FC Spartak of the termination of the sponsorship contract due to the fact that, in accordance with the UEFA verdict, our club will not be able to participate in European competitions next season.

The management of the commercial direction of Spartak is looking for a new supplier of equipment. Nike has been a technical sponsor of the red and white since 2005.

In the form of this manufacturer, we won many memorable victories, including winning the gold medals of the championship and the Russian Super Cup in 2017.

This season’s UEFA Europa League’s Round of 16 match between Spartak Moscow and RB Leipzig was called off by UEFA in February following the governing body’s call to ban all Russian clubs from its competitions.
