Rohit Sharma named as ICC T20 World Cup 2026 ambassador
Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has been unveiled by the International Cricket Council as the tournament ambassador for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Sharma, who retired from the format after the last edition of the tournament, was present in Mumbai on November 25 for the announcement of the official schedule and venues for the event.
The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be a 20-team tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. It is scheduled to be held between February 7 and March 8 next year, with the final to be held in Ahmedabad, India. If Pakistan make the final, then the match will be held at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Sharma is a two-time winner of the T20 World Cup, having been part of the Indian squad that won the inaugural edition back in 2007 before captaining the Men in Blue all the way in the US last year.
On his new role, Rohit Sharma commented:
“It is great to have the tournament back in India and for me to be associated once again with the tournament, this time in a new capacity as the Brand Ambassador. I wish all the players the very best and hope they have a memorable time and enjoy India’s hospitality while taking back a lot of memories.”
