Smriti Mandhana, born on July 18, 1996, is an Indian professional cricketer. She was awarded the Best Women’s International Cricketer distinction from the BCCI in June 2018, while she also received the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in January 2022.
Mandhana was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping ?3.40 crore at the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction.
Mandhana’s father and brother were both district-level cricket players for Sangli. After seeing her brother play for Maharashtra at an under-16 tournament, Smriti got motivated to take up the sport, going on to debut for India in August 2013.
Mandhana made it to the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in 2016 after signing a one-year contract with the Brisbane Heat. She later signed for the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2018/19 season. She last played in the WBBL for the Sydney Thunder.
