The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has completed their investigation of Alpine’s Right of Review request made post the completion of last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix 2026 and the result sees Pierre Gasly get back his third place podium following a successful appeal by the French Formula One team.

Gasly had received two five-second time penalties for speeding in the pit lane and while Gasly crossed the line third on track, following the application of the penalties, he was demoted to seventh. Alpine, though, challenged the decision stating that they had evidence proving that the ‘distance used in calculating the F1 Official Timing (and hence the pit lane speed) was inaccurate and overestimated the speed of Car 10’. With Gasly getting the penalty, it was Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar picking up the third place finish behind race winner Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton.

Following investigating the matter, the FIA announced that they had rescinded his penalties and the Alpine driver’s podium place was reinstated. With Gasly being given back his podium, it is Alpine’s first podium of the season and it means Hadjar finishes fourth, while Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad drop a place to fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. Alpine’s podium also helps them pick up a big haul of points and they are now only 19 points behind Red Bull, who sit in fourth place.

Alpine released a statement which read,

“We welcome the decision made by the FIA to deem our Right of Review as admissible following the final classification of last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix. As a result, the Stewards have rescinded the two five-second penalties imposed on Car #10, which reinstates the team’s third place finish. We would like to thank the FIA and Formula One Management for its transparency and co-operation throughout the Right of Review process and for reaching this decision. The team’s focus is now very much on this weekend’s Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and striving for the best possible result with both of its cars.”

With the FIA overturning the penalties, the top 10 finish in Monaco is as follows:

1. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes)

2. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari)

3. Pierre Gasly (Alpine)

4. Isack Hadjar (Red Bull)

5. Oscar Piastri (McLaren)

6. Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls)

7. Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls)

8. Alex Albon (Williams Racing)

9. Esteban Ocon (Haas)

10. Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)
