Steve Smith is an Australian cricketer who formerly captained the national team. Smith is regarded to be the best batsman of his generation. He has been named Player of the Year by both Wisden Cricketers’ Almanac and the Australian Cricket Board. Rajasthan Royals bought Smith for $20 million in the 2022 IPL auction.

3.    Rohit Sharma – $16 million

Rohit Sharma falls on the list for the most expensive Indian cricketer in IPL who is captain of the Mumbai Indians team in the IPL. He is a prolific batsman and has scored the most runs in T20 cricket history. Mumbai Indians bought Sharma for $16 million in the 2022 IPL auction.

4.    MS Dhoni – $12 million

MS Dhoni is currently playing domestically. He will retire from international cricket in 2019. However, he is widely regarded as one of cricket’s greatest wicket-keepers and captains. Chennai Super Kings bought dhoni for $12 million in the 2022 IPL auction.

5.    David Warner – $11 million

David Warner is an Australian cricketer who was captain of the national team until his suspension in 2019 for his role in the ball-tampering scandal. He is a powerful batsman and is considered one of the best opening batsmen in the world. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Warner for $11 million in the 2022 IPL auction.
