Following six days of action at the selection trials at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has announced the Indian contingents for the upcoming Thomas & Uber Cup, the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games. For the Commonwealth Games, the men’s team consists of Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty and B Sumeeth Reddy, while PV Sindhu is set to lead the women’s squad which has Aakarshi Kashyap, Treesa Jolly, Gayatri P and Ashwini Ponappa alongside her. Sumeet Reddy and Ponappa made the cut into the men’s and women’s squads respectively for the Commonwealth Games after their top-place finish in the mixed doubles category. The 14-year-old teenage sensation from Rohtak, Unnati Hooda, definitely caught the selectors’ eyes as she secured a place for the Asian Games as well as the Uber Cup by finishing third in the women’s singles after Kashyap and Ashmita Chaliha, who claimed first and second positions respectively. Hooda is the youngest Indian badminton player to be part of the Asian Games squad.

Loco retains NBA 2K League broadcasting rights Indian esports and gaming streaming platform Loco has retained the broadcast rights for the NBA 2K League in India. Both parties had first joined forces back in 2020, and the current announcement is an extension of that agreement. Loco will be broadcasting all the matches of the fifth NBA 2K League season starting from April 21, 2022. Brendan Donohue, President of the NBA 2K League, commented: “As a league with teams, fans and players from around the globe, for the second full year, we’re excited to continue our partnership with Loco and provide the passionate fans in India the opportunity to watch the best 2K players in the world battle it out in 5v5 and, for the first time in 2022, 3v3 competitions.” Anirudh Padwin and Ashwin Suresh, Founders of Loco, commented: “The NBA 2KL has received incredible viewership on Loco over the past 2 years and we are happy to be extending the association for future seasons. “We expect to see the Indian 2KL community grow multifold, further fueled by Loco’s own growth. Our focus will be to work with the NBA 2K League team to offer Indian fans the highest quality of entertainment and increase brand affinity for this category of esports.” As one of India’s leading streaming platforms, Loco has partnerships with the likes of Fnatic and Velocity Gaming. The fifth season of the NBA 2K League will feature a prize pool of US$2.5 million.
