It is a win or go home clash with a place in the Qualifier 2 up for grabs as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals face off in what is sure to be a firecracker of a contest between two highly competitive and explosive sides in the Eliminator for the 2026 IPL season.

Here is our Preview and Predictions for the Game,

IPL 2026 | Eliminator: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals | 19:30, May 27

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a pretty slow start to the season, with Ishan Kishan assuming the mantle of skipper after regular captain Pat Cummins was ruled out of the first half of the tournament due to his injury and recovery. They lost three out of their first 4 games and questions began to arise whether their method of relentless attack had been found out.

But a stellar run of form saw them reel off 5 successive victories as they managed to strike a perfect balance between bat and ball. The return of Pat Cummins not only galvanised their bowling arsenal, but also restored the tactical and leadership nous back into the side. Two losses in their last 5 games means that they had to settle for a third place finish on Net Run Rate, but they still have a good line of form with them given how they took care of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final game.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have been the usual suspects up the order, but it is the swashbuckling arrival to form of Heinrich Klaasen that has set this batting order apart. The South African is currently 3rd in the Orange Cap standings with 606 runs, and has allowed the batsmen around him to play in their own way as he smashes bowlers around the park at his own whims.

The bowling has also improved as the tournament has raged on. Nitish Kumar Reddy’s improvement as a bowler has been the biggest story of SRH this season. The emergence of Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain has also unearthed their skill and talent for everyone to see. It is bound to be a great game for all these boys as they look to make their second final in 3 years.

Rajasthan Royals started their season on an absolutely mad run of form. They won their first four games on the bounce and left a trail of teams with their devastating batting form mixed with bowling effectiveness. But the downturn in form was as stark as the uptick, with only one win in their next 4. They eventually managed to get just the right amount of wins in their next 6 as a combination of other results going their way meant that they somehow stumbled their way to the Final 4.

The starring performers for the Royals are their usual suspects. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have scored the bulk of their runs at the top of the order. Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Ravi Bishnoi have been consistent with the ball, while Brijesh Sharma has emerged with his reputation enhanced. This game could be the biggest examination of conscience for Riyan Parag not only as batsman, but also as captain. A win here will do his reputation no harm, while a loss here could probably have a big implication on how the rest of his career pans out.

Both sides are eerily similar in the way they operate. A power-packed top order, an overseas bowler leading their bowling exploits, and a middle-order not exactly on top. But one team has Heinrich Klaasen, while the other does not. Which is why we believe that Sunrisers Hyderabad will be the favourites to win the Eliminator and go on to face the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
