For the game, here we present our preview and predictions.
Indian Premier League 2026 | Match 21: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals | 19:30 IST, April 13, 2026
The Royals came into the season without many big names in their arsenal, yet they are looking like the real deal. With four wins from four games, they are slowly ticking off all the boxes across the three disciplines.
In Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel, RR have a solid, young, and explosive top order. While Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal are providing the team with a strong platform, Jurel has slowly gone about his business and seen his side home or provided a good finish whenever needed, proving to be the perfect foil for the opening pair. If there is any concern in the RR batting department, it is regarding the middle order comprising Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, and Donovan Ferreira, who do not have a lot of runs under their belt.
The Royals’ bowling has been spearheaded by Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, with the two quicks providing breakthroughs up top, though it has been Ravi Bishnoi who has been the standout bowler for the inaugural IPL champions. Bishnoi seems to have found his mojo back after a disappointing season last year and looks like the proper leader of the pack, having been at his wily best and ably supported by the veteran Ravindra Jadeja.
While the Royals look like they are slowly moving into fifth gear, SunRisers Hyderabad are yet to figure out their best combination. With their captain, Pat Cummins, still injured alongside Brydon Carse, SRH are yet to put their best XI on the field.
On paper, the SunRisers have the most explosive batting line-up, featuring the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Liam Livingstone, and Heinrich Klaasen, but they have not yet got going as a unit. Without their strongest bowling attack, a lot depends on SRH’s batters to bail them out of tight situations. Head and Sharma have blown hot and cold, while Klaasen has struggled to find fluency from the get-go. Kishan, the stand-in captain, is currently Hyderabad’s only in-form and consistent batter.
Bowling is a massive issue for SRH, with a weakened unit being fielded due to injuries to key players. Nitish Kumar Reddy has taken the new ball on a couple of occasions, but he does not look comfortable as a new-ball bowler at all and is much better suited to the middle overs. The absence of an out-and-out new-ball bowler up top has hurt the SunRisers, with the two young spinners, Harsh Dubey and Shivang Kumar, being the only positives in an otherwise flat bowling attack.
The Hyderabad ground has generally been a high-scoring one, though the only game played here this season so far had plenty for the bowlers. There was seam and movement up front with the new ball, while the spinners found some grip too.
While the SunRisers do have the home support for this game, the unstoppable Royals look like the clear favourites for the win here, given their form and much more balanced squad.
