Every year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) picks the top players in different categories based on their recent performance. The player is rated out of thousand points and is scored majorly based on the runs he scores in the match. Today let us look at the best ODI bowlers in the world as of January 2021.

1. TA Boult – Born on July 22, 1989, TA Boult is a cricket player from New Zealand. He has played sixty-six test matches and scored 653 runs with an average of 15.18 and strike rate of 56.88, including one half-century, and remains not out thirty-eight times. In sixty-six test matches, he has bowled 14688 balls and picked up 261 wickets by giving a 7267 score with an economy of 2.96 and strike rate of 56.2 with 14 four-wicket haul, eight five-wicket haul, and one ten-wicket haul.  He has played eighty-nine ODIs and scored 154 runs with an average of 9.62 and a strike rate of 73.68 and remains not out twenty-three times. In eighty-nine ODI matches, he has bowled 4884 balls and picked up 164 wickets by giving a 4111 score with an economy of 5.05 and strike rate of 29.7 with seven four-wicket hauls, five five-wicket hauls. He has played twenty-seven T20 Internationals and scored 22 runs with an average of 4.4 and a strike rate of 68.75 and remains not out three times. In twenty-seven T20 Internationals, he has bowled 593 balls and picked up 39 wickets by giving an 854 score with an economy of 8.64 and strike rate of 15.2 with one four-wicket haul. He has played sixty-three Twenty20 matches and scored 35 runs with an average of 5 and strike rate of 62.5 and remains not out nine times. In sixty-three Twenty20 matches, he has bowled 1340 balls and picked up 63 wickets by giving 1811 scores with an economy of 8.1 and strike rate of 21.2.

2. Mujeeb Ur Rahman – Born on March 28, 2001, Mujeeb Ur Rahman is a cricket player from Afghanistan. He is one of the fifteen players who have been named in the Afghanistan squad to play the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales. Mujeeb Ur Rahman made his ODI debut on December 5, 2017. He had played twenty-eight ODI matches until the 2019 World Cup. He had bowled 1536 balls and taken 51 wickets while conceding 959 runs. He had an economy rate of 3.75 and an average of 18.8. Mujeeb made his ODI debut against Ireland at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium on December 5, 2017. He took four wickets on his debut, conceding only 24 runs in his quota of ten overs, and helped the team win by 138 runs. In the 2018 IPL player auction, Kings XI Punjab bought Mujeeb for Rs 4 crore. On April 8, 2018, at the age of 17 years and 11 days, he became the youngest cricketer to play in the IPL. In the sixteen IPL matches played so far, he has taken 17 wickets, an average of 28.23, and an economy rate of 7.95. On February 5, 2018, Mujeeb made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium. Since then, he has taken 11 wickets and has conceded runs at the rate of 5.34 an over. Mujeeb was named in Afghanistan’s squad for their inaugural Test match to be played against Indian in May 2018. He made his Test debut on June 14, 2018. He became the sixth player, and first for Afghanistan, to make his first-class debut in a Test match. He also is the first player born in the 21st century to play Test cricket. 

3. JJ Bumrah – Born on December 6, 1993, JJ Bumrah is a cricket player from India. He has played three test matches and scored four runs with an average of 1 and a strike rate of 11.11. In three test matches, he has bowled 673 balls and picked up 14 wickets by giving 353 scores with an economy of 3.14 and a strike rate of 48 with one five-wicket haul. He has played thirty-seven ODIs and scored 11 runs with an average of 3.66 and strike rate of 35.48. 4. CR Woakes – Born on March 2, 1989, CR Woakes is a cricket player from England. He has played thirty-three test matches and scored 1177 runs with an average of 26.75 and strike rate of 50.25, including one century and four half-centuries, and remains not out 11 times. In thirty-three test matches, he has bowled 5714 balls and picked up 95 wickets by giving 2934 scores with an economy of 3.08 and strike rate of 60.1 with two four-wicket hauls, three five-wicket hauls, one ten-wicket haul. 6. JR Hazlewood – Born on January 8, 1991, JR Hazlewood is a cricket player from Australia. 10. JC Archer – Born on April 1, 1995, JC Archer is a cricket player from England. Archer was selected for the England team in limited-overs fixtures against Ireland and Pakistan in April 2019. In May 2019, he made his international debut for England and became part of the England squad that won the Cricket World Cup in 2019. He then made his Test debut later that summer, against Australia in the 2019 Ashes series.
