Can Mumbai move to the top?

Two teams, looking to make it to the Playoffs face off in a blockbuster clash as Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals take on Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians in a high-octane blockbuster. With the task cut out for both teams given the table standings, the two star-studded teams will need to bring their A-game to keep themselves in contention for a Playoffs spot.

Ahead of the 13th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, here’s our match preview and predictions.

Women’s Premier League 2025 Match 13 | Group Stage | Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians I 19:30 IST, February 28th

The 2024 runners up, Delhi Capitals, haven’t had the best start to their WPL 2025 campaign as they looked to do one better from their 2024 campaign. It has been a mixed campaign for Meg Lanning’s girls, who started WPL 2025 with a win over the Mumbai Indians but inconsistent batting performances has seen them unable to repeat the Group Stage form from last year. Barring the UP Warriorz game, Lanning and Shafali Verma have not been able to provide their batters with a solid platform and barring a 56 from Jemimah Rodrigues and a 41* from Annabel Sutherland, the experienced middle order is yet to click. Lanning will be expecting more from the batters as the tournament enters its final leg at the Chinnaswamy.

The Delhi bowlers though, have had a better tournament so far than the batters with the likes of Shikha Pandey, Annabel Sutherland and Jess Jonassen all being regularly amongst the wickets.

The Mumbai team, on the other hand, after going down to Delhi in their opening game have bounced back strongly with Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt being in red hot form with the bat. Kaur will hope that her opening pair of Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia come good as well with Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur and Sajeevan Sajana making a long tail. Sciver-Brunt, Amanjot Kaur, Matthews and Kerr have stepped up for Kaur whenever needed with the Mumbai squad slowly looking like a well-oiled machine.

At the Chinnaswamy, it should be another run fest with Harmanpreet Kaur’s girls as the favourites to settle the score for their opening game loss given their current form.

Fantasy XI: Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma, Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Marizanne Kapp, Amelia Kerr, Niki Prasad, Jess Jonassen, Shikha Pandey

Venue: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Winner’s Prediction: Mumbai Indians
