World’s highest-paid athletes 2022

World’s 10 highest-paid athletes 2022

The world’s highest-paid athletes have raked in a combined US$992 million over the last 12 months according to Forbes’ estimates. This represents a 6% drop from 2021, and much of it can be attributed to Connor McGregor’s massive earnings of US$180 million from last year, after he pocketed a massive US$150 million from the sale of his Irish Whiskey brand, Proper No. Twelve. This year’s collective total is the third-highest ever, behind last year’s US$1.05 billion and the US$1.06 billion of 2018, when McGregor once again skewed the results because of his superfight against Floyd Mayweather. With McGregor’s fall, it is the footballing superstar Lionel Messi, who after spending seventeen years with FC Barcelona left his only-known professional home to move to the French superclub Paris-Saint Germain, finds himself on top of Forbes’ annual ranking of the world’s highest-paid athletes just for the second time (first in 2019). Although there’s a massive drop in his salary — down from US$97m in his final year with Barcelona to US$75m with PSG — a major boost in endorsement deals sees him beat the likes of LeBron James and his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo to top the list. Cristiano Ronaldo still finds himself in the third spot. He has seen his returns diminish just a little bit as his earnings fell from US$120 million last year to US$115 million this time around. However, sandwiched between the two footballing giants is a great from the basketball arena: LeBron James took home US$96.5 million last year, which was a record for an NBA player. This year, though, he has eclipsed his record by raking in a massive US$121.2 million, becoming only the tenth-ever player to breach the US$100 million mark.

The 10 most expensive NFTs

The 10 most expensive sports NFTs of all time

Sports enthusiasts, get your digital wallets out if you’ve been on the internet recently. Today we’ll be discussing some of the most expensive sports NFTs in history. An NFT is a non-interchangeable unit of data stored on the blockchain but differs from a cryptocurrency, which is fungible and interchangeable. It is a form of digital ledger that can be sold and traded with a buyer. An NFT can be associated with a particular digital or physical asset including but not limited to, arts, songs, sports highlights and other types of digital files. It uses blockchain technology to provide verifiable proof of the item the NFT is associated with. However, just like purchasing a limited-edition signed and numbered print of a photograph does not transfer copyright ownership of the photograph to the purchaser, purchasing an NFT does not necessarily confer any of the intellectual property (i.e. copyright) in the subject matter of the NFT. The underlying intellectual property right may be transferred by a smart contract associated with the NFT, but caution should be exercised here to make sure that no conflict exists between what is in the smart contract and what is in the terms of the website or platform on which the NFT is created or purchased. So without any further ado, let’s dive into it and take a look at the 10 most expensive sports NFTs of all time.

Top 10 male right-wingers in world football right now

Top 10 male right-wingers in world football right now

With the 4-4-2 becoming more and more redundant in modern football, a myriad of formations and positional tweaks mean wide men now are a different specimen to the classic crossers and providers of the 1990s. The modern-day wingers have a lot on their plate considering the tasks given to them on both ends of the pitch, making it one of the most difficult and vital positions in the sport. These days, they’re goalscorers, pressers, raumdeuters and much more. While the overall criteria for judging wingers remain the same as before, nowadays, they are evaluated based on their goal-scoring abilities and contribution to the team’s build-up play in addition to their dribbling and delivering abilities.

What is an NFT? How do NFTs work? Is it worth the investment?

What is an NFT? How do NFTs work? Is it worth the investment?

In today’s fast-paced world where everything is getting digitised and mass marketing campaigns are a common trend, it is hard to read the newspaper, browse the internet, or watch TV without the words “blockchain”, “cryptocurrency” and “NFT” flashing in front of your eyes. I’d assume you’ve already seen multiple ads and TV commercials where famous athletes and actors would be telling you to buy cryptocurrencies or NFTs, or seen stories on the news about people buying crypto and NFTs for increasingly mind-blowing sums of money. Today, even most of our favourite brands and companies have NFT offerings to offer in exchange for exclusive benefits. But what do these terms mean, and how do these technologies work? The rate at which these technologies are evolving makes it almost impossible to predict how the state of the market will be next week or next month in comparison to today.

Manika Batra – Sponsors | Net worth | Investments

Batra signed an endorsement deal with German sportswear giant Adidas "to empower women and enable them to see possibilities in the world of sports". Penned in February 2022, the deal is aimed at driving credibility and inclusivity in sports, further fanning the aspirations of upcoming women sports persons across the country. Owing to her ‘Impossible Is Nothing’ attitude, Manika is now a part of Adidas’ rich roster of women athletes, which consists of some outstanding sportswomen in their respective fields such as Mirabai Chanu, Lovlina Borgohain, Hima Das and Nikhat Zareen. In a move to encourage and support women at the Olympics, Mia by Tanishq, one of India's most fashionable jewellery brands, chose to partner with athletes like Manika Batra, Deepika Kumari, Pooja Rani, Navjot Kaur and Rani Rampal ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. Manika was seen wearing an M-shaped gold pendant from 'The Initial Edit' collection, earrings from the 'Kiss of Spring' collection and a statement piece from 'Solitaires Necklaces'.
