Online payment solutions provider AstroPay has signed a deal with Premier League club Crystal Palace FC which will see it become the club’s official training wear sponsor. The partnership will put the AstroPay branding on the Crystal Palace training kit and on LED advertising boards at the Palace home ground, Selhurst Park. Additionally, AstroPay’s branding will also be visible on Crystal Palace’s social media assets and appear on the PalaceTV content series ‘Copers Cope TV’ — a show that documents Palace training sessions. Mikael Lijtenstein, AstroPay CEO, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Crystal Palace F.C, a Premier League football team that has a rich history over the last 160 years. This is an exciting partnership with one of England’s most well-known footballing institutions and we look forward to working together hopefully for many seasons to come.” Barry Webber, the Crystal Palace’s Commercial Director, added: “We are thrilled to be able to announce a partnership with a brand as globally recognised as AstroPay. AstroPay has a long history of success in the payment solutions sector, and we look forward to working with them during the remainder of the season.” The Palace partnership grows AstroPay’s sports sponsorship portfolio, which already consisted of the Burnley FC women’s team and the Sri Lanka T20I World Cup team.

Barcelona set to announce Spotify partnership

Barcelona set to announce Spotify partnership

LaLiga club FC Barcelona are reported to have agreed to a sponsorship deal with Swedish audio streaming giant Spotify. The multi-year partnership is reported to be worth €280 million and will see Spotify become the club’s main shirt sponsor from the next season onwards. The Spotify logo will be visible on the men’s and women’s first-team jerseys and also on the back of the training kits. Spotify will also gain title rights and sponsor the club’s home ground, the Camp Nou. By sponsoring the Camp Nou, Spotify will become the first brand in Barça history to sponsor the iconic stadium. Japanese retailer Rakuten has sponsored the men’s team since 2017, and Stanley Black & Decker has been the women’s team’s official shirt sponsor since 2018. Rakuten’s agreement with the Spanish giants is set to expire at the end of the current season, and a renewal of the partnership is unlikely. A new sponsorship deal will be welcomed by FC Barcelona, given they have been struggling financially. The deal could help them increase their LaLiga salary cap for the upcoming season. Neither party has officially announced the partnership yet.

The global sportswear and accessories firm has announced the decision after the player’s recent arrest.
